“We never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul and closer than our most secret thoughts.”
Previously, in part one of The Wilderness of God’s Love, I expressed how important it is to be praising and rejoicing in these troublesome times of our journey with God, and how it is crucial to greet the wilderness with joy. The wilderness with God sometimes seems never-ending; you are lost, you are confused, you feel like your faith with Him is dry, and you feel like He is not even leading you to a destination… However, welcoming the wilderness with a smile, knowing that God is forever present and sovereign, will help show you the good and grace He so mercifully gives us through every season. He cannot move properly if we are refusing His help, therefore, be glad that He is bringing you through a different season. That means He has a new and amazing gift for you. And after you learn to welcome these times of trouble, dryness, and confusion, you must learn to activate yourself within the wilderness of His love.
Activating your faith within the wilderness.
to start it off, trigger it, or set it in motion.
After you have learned that life with God will not always be easy, and it does require obedience, submissiveness, meekness, and quietness, you must learn to stay mobile within every season. You must learn to activate your faith within every trial, triumph, journey, and mistake, because that is where the progress comes in.
To be activated within the wilderness of God’s love does not only mean to be present, but it also means to sometimes initiate and move. God is not always going to lead you, sometimes He is going to give you various options, and He will want you to listen quietly for His voice in order to choose wisely based upon His standards. 1 Corinthians 10:13 states;
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
The Lord is always on our side, and He truly does want what is best for us, but He will test us. He will provide you with temptations to test where your faith is at, and He will provide you with a way out of His wilderness to see if you will truly stick by His side. But, He will not tempt you beyond what you can bear, if you listen carefully to His soft and kind whisper. If you stay motivated, determined, and attentive through tough periods with the Lord, His plan will prevail, always. You only need to stay active within the presence of Him, and constantly seeking Him through everything you do, no matter what season you are in.
Here are three quotes to embracing the idea of “activating your faith in the wilderness”, full heartedly:
“God whispers to us because He is close, we need only to listen.”
“Of Course God does not consider you hopeless. If He did, He would not be moving you to seek Him (and He obviously is)… Continue seeking Him with seriousness. Unless He wanted you, you would not be wanting Him.”
“To have faith in Christ means trying to do all that He says. There would be no sense in saying you trusted a person if you would not take his advice. Thus if you have really handed yourself over to Him, it must follow that you are trying to obey Him. But trying in a new way, a less worried way. Not doing these things in order to be saved, but because He has begun to save you already. Not hoping to get to Heaven as a reward for your actions, but inevitably wanting to act in a certain way because a first faint gleam of Heaven is already inside you.”
I pray that you start intentionally finding His presence, no matter where you are at in your faith. I pray that you get up and move to where you feel God calling you, instead of debating it. I pray that you initiate conversation with the Lord every single day, instead of waiting for it to be right in front of you. And most of all, I pray that you stay alive, engaged, busy, and diligent in your relationship with the Lord, because He is near, He is never too far, and He will do you great works if you only show Him that you are 110% in for all of the plans that He has for you.
With all that I am,
